What is steel weight calculation?

Steel is a carbon-containing alloy of iron formed by heating iron in the presence of oxygen. Initially, iron is soft and malleable, but by adding around 1.5 to 2 percent carbon, it transforms into steel, a stronger yet less malleable metal. Stainless steel is a type of steel with added chromium to prevent rust formation. On the other hand, cast iron is a form of steel with a carbon content exceeding 2 percent, making it non-malleable but suitable for melting and casting in molds.

If the L is in meters:
Multiply the total length of the bar with the following unit weight.
For,
  • 10mm ø bar = 0.617 kg/m
  • 12mm ø bar = 0.888 kg/m
  • 16mm ø bar = 1.580 kg/m
  • 20mm ø bar = 2.469 kg/m
  • 25mm ø bar = 3.858 kg/m
If the L is in the foot:
Multiply the total length of the bar with the following unit weight.
For,
  • 10mm ø bar = 0.188 kg/ft
  • 12mm ø bar = 0.270 kg/ft
  • 16mm ø bar = 0.480 kg/ft
  • 20mm ø bar = 0.750 kg/ft
  • 25mm ø bar = 1.172 kg/ft
